Open Day Saturday 15th June 2019

There was lots of activity in the garden today as we prepare for our Open Day which is on Saturday 15th June 2019 at 1pm – 4pm.

As well as the beautiful garden to view there will be craft stalls, plant sales, tombola, a raffle and the Tenovus Choir to keep you entertained. We will also be serving refreshments for your enjoyment.

Admission is £1 for adults, children free. We look forward to welcoming old and new friends alike.

We were delighted to welcome a volunteer group from the Department of Work and Pensions today, who were kept busy painting the new safety fence which is in the process of being constructed. It is great when local groups come and volunteer with us; giving their time to charitable projects is a valuable contribution to the local community for which we are most grateful. We always welcome groups who can help us; please contact us if you are able to give your services in this way.

Elsewhere in the garden much effort was being put in to weeding the vegetable beds to ensure that they not only look their best but the vegetables get the best opportunity to grow as well.

Emily, Cathy and Jane were busy picking peas and mange tout to fulfil a vegetable order for a local restaurant who pride themselves on using locally grown produce.

The wild life in the garden were also very busy today; one bush in particular was alive with bees collecting nectar.

And over at the bird hide and feeding station, the resident squirrel was eyeing up how he could get at the nuts in the bird feeder, while a hungry feathered friend was ignoring the squirrel’s efforts.
