On Tuesday 27th June, the Ruabon Field Club visited following a talk by Emma and Ann last March. The 12 visitors were pleased to see ‘for real’ the work that goes on here by our students and volunteers, and said they would definitely tell their friends about us, and the fact that our vegetables and fruit we grow is for sale from Mondays through to Fridays. (At the moment we have tomatoes, raspberries, broad beans, blackcurrants and potatoes for sale)
We will be visited by the U3A Historic Gardens Group this coming Thursday morning, and also by 2 large co-horts of 50 Year 9 school children from Ysgol Clwyedog this Wednesday.
Giant Pumpkin Update!
All the lovely sunshine (and recent rain) has resulted in much growth of our 2 giant pumpkins.
Here you can see Kevin feeding the right-hand side pumpkin a watering can full of tomato food. Although there are a number of stems growing from the main stem, Nick will judge which female flower to nurture when the main stem measures 10 to 12 foot long, which it has almost already reached!
(The left hand pumpkin is not making quite so much growth).
Talking of pumpkins, volunteers from Erdigg will be planting a small plot with pumpkins this evening, which will hopefully be ready to harvest for Halloween. Watch this space for regular pumpkin updates!
