May activities at EVWG

There has been lots going on at the Walled Gardens in the past few weeks, and the bluebells in the woodland areas were very colourful.

We continue to pick and dry flowers grown at the gardens for our confetti. Here you can see Emily processing Aquilegia flowers to make a purple/pink confetti. Please contact us on 01978 265058 if you are interested. We can prepare many colours and it costs £1 per bag or £10 per Kg.

There is lots of planting and weeding to do. Reaseheath College students have been coming every Tuesday since Easter, and here you can see how our raised beds make weeding much easier for Courtney, Emma and Helen.

Potatoes, courgettes, pumpkins, radish, onions, French and broad beans have been planted out both in the raised beds that we have had built with funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery:

-and in the original walled garden.

The round-house refurbishment is well under way, with Ray and Carlton working on laying a cedar shingle roof, with help from Ian (Mac) and from Darren B and Darren R. Funding for this project has come from both the North Wales 3rd Sector Intermediate Care Fund, and from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.

Preparations are being made for our annual summer fayre, which will be held on the afternoon of 17th June between 1 and 4pm. More details to follow shortly…
