Create Your Space Update.

The Directors at Erlas Victorian Walled Garden are busy putting a second stage application together to the ‘Create Your Space’ Programme, part of the Big Lottery Funding for Wales. This is a seven year initiative, which enables communities to lead on making positive and sustainable transformations to their local environment. We would like to further develop the grounds around Bryn Estyn Hall, by building a café and retail shop, and also extend our education, workshop and recreation facilities, and in doing so, enable  many people from the communities of Wrexham, to come together and learn about their environment and their heritage. If we are successful in our bid, this programme will address inequalities, transform lives and demonstrate the abilities of those facing challenges, rather than emphasise disabilities.

We are planning to host a series of Open Evenings at the gardens, throughout October, when the communities of Wrexham can come and discuss our plans, and also walk around the grounds and learn what we have achieved over the past 14 years. We hope to Open our Doors on 2 Saturday mornings between 10 and 12 noon.

Details of times and dates will be posted by the beginning of October.

A number of presentations to local Community Councils are also taking place: with one held last Tuesday 23rd September at Acton Community Council; one tonight (Tuesday 27th September at Holt Community Council, at 7pm) and one on Thursday 13th October at Caia Park Community Council.
