Our Annual Victorian Open Day on Saturday 18th June was a huge success, with over 170 visitors walking through our gates and enjoying the activities, cakes, refreshments and raffle and tombola. We made £960, which is a considerable achievement for all the volunteers, students and staff who prepared for the day.
One of the popular activities was the pond-dipping, with a number of unusual pond creatures, including dragon-fly larvae and newts, examined under the lens, under the expert guidance of Jane.
Students and volunteers enjoyed the gardens and refreshments in the greenhouse.
Another enjoyable activity was the maypole dancing. Throughout the afternoon, scores of people, young and old, and of the canine variety, joined in the fun, led by Hilary and Pat. Later in the afternoon, Ian and Nora Lucas joined in – and both participants showed great promise too!
