Erlas Woodland – Digital Resources
Welcome to Erlas Woodland
Erlas Woodland is an accessible community woodland created within the grounds of Erlas Victorian Walled Garden in Wrexham.
The woodland has been developed as a welcoming and inclusive space where people can enjoy nature, learn about local wildlife and experience the benefits of spending time outdoors.
Erlas Woodland forms part of the National Forest for Wales and was developed with support from the Welsh Government and The National Lottery Heritage Fund through the Woodland Improvement Grant – TWIG 5.
The Erlas Woodland Story
The development of Erlas Woodland transformed an existing area of the Erlas site into an accessible woodland for our beneficiaries, visitors and the wider community.
Community consultation helped shape the development of the woodland, including its accessibility, wildlife habitats and interpretation.
The project has created a space that brings together nature, accessibility, learning, community and wellbeing.
From Vision to Reality
Follow the journey of Erlas Woodland from its early development through to the completed community woodland.

Erlas Woodland – Interpretation Signs
A series of interpretation signs has been created to help visitors discover more about the trees, wildlife and habitats found within Erlas Woodland.
The signs combine accessible information with illustrations and bilingual English and Welsh content.

Listen to the Woodland
Our woodland interpretation is also supported by audio content, helping to make information about the woodland and its wildlife available in another accessible format.
