We are now into our second week back after the Christmas and New Year Festivities.
Everyone has enjoyed the break, but are now looking forward to working in and around the gardens, and learning new things in the education classes.
Stephen, Hilary and Pat are out in the gardens, mulching the blackcurrant bushes, which have been re-located from the orchard.
Anna Maria has been delivering classes on Wednesday mornings for our students, helping their reading, writing and communication skills. During the winter months, Anna has also volunteered to start a class on Tuesday mornings, when 6 students can learn about The Victorian Times, which is very topical as our garden was created in the 1830’s. Here you can see Heather and Cathy display a portrait of Queen Victoria and her 9 children.
The garden is starting to ‘wake’ up, and this photo shows the walnut tree decorated with woven wool charms, which the students have made in Sylvia’s craft class.
There will be a busy year ahead for everyone in 2017.
If anyone would like to volunteer at the gardens, then please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 01978265058 during weekdays. (See also the ‘Get Involved’ section on our web-site)
